New Hearing Technology
Below, we explain how Clarity Boost works, where Widex's numbers come from and what Widex has not said. Widex says US availability begins in October 2026 and has announced no price. This page is accurate as of October 14, 2026.
At a glance
- Allure AI RIC adds a dedicated AI co-processor to the W1 chip. You switch Clarity Boost on with a single tap when a room gets hard.
- Widex says 5 times more wearers preferred it over key AI-denoising competitors. The claim rests on one Widex study (Bianchi et al. 2026).
- Widex also claims up to 20% better speech understanding and up to 13% less listening effort in a two-talker conversation. The release gives no sample size.
- Widex says US availability begins in October 2026. No price has been announced.
What is new in the Allure AI RIC
The Allure AI RIC is a receiver-in-canal hearing aid built on the Widex Allure platform, which uses the W1 chip and Precision Hearing Technology. Widex first introduced it in May 2026. On October 14, 2026 it announced a launch in 15 more countries, including the US and major European markets. Widex says the aid has the same size and form as the traditional Allure RIC and comes in 10 colors. What is new is a dedicated AI co-processor, a second chip that runs an audio-specific neural network.
How Clarity Boost works
Clarity Boost is the AI mode. You switch it on with a single tap when you walk into a complex listening room, and you switch it off afterward. Widex says the neural network reduces noise while keeping you aware of the sounds around you and preserving sound quality. The rest of the day the aid runs on the W1 chip, which Widex says gives natural sound with very little delay (Allure PureSound with ZeroDelay). The aid keeps other Allure features too, including Speech Enhancer Pro, Enhanced Sound Classifier and Adaptive Dynamic Feedback Controller. Think of Clarity Boost as a turbo button that you control.
The numbers, and where they come from
Widex's October 14 release gives three claims from one study (Bianchi et al. 2026, WidexPress 65). Wearers preferred the aid at a rate five times higher than key competitors with AI-based denoising, in real-world listening. Speech understanding was up to 20% better and listening effort up to 13% lower than those competitors, in a conversation with two alternating talkers. The competitors were two premium hearing aids. The release does not name them or give sample sizes, the exact speech measure or the full protocol. Separately, Widex claims up to 6 dB higher output signal-to-noise ratio than competitor AI products, with no named test. These are manufacturer claims. They are encouraging, and they are not yet independent.
| Claim | Where it comes from | What is missing |
|---|---|---|
| 5 times more wearers preferred it over key AI-denoising competitors | Widex release; Bianchi et al. 2026 (WidexPress 65) | Sample size, competitor names, full protocol |
| Up to 20% better speech understanding | Same study; two-talker conversation | The exact speech measure |
| Up to 13% less listening effort | Same study | How effort was measured |
| Up to 6 dB higher output SNR than competitor AI products | Widex launch coverage, May 2026 | Which products and which conditions |
| Battery up to 32 hours, including 6 hours of AI or streaming | Widex launch coverage, May 2026 | Independent battery testing |
Battery, charging and connections
Widex says the battery lasts up to 32 hours, including 6 hours of AI use or streaming. Charging options are a standard charger, a Charge & Clean charger and a portable Qi-enabled charger. Connections include Made for iPhone, ASHA for Android, LE Audio, telecoil and hands-free calls. Widex describes the aid as Auracast-ready. Public Auracast venues are still growing, so read what Auracast is before you count on it.
Tinnitus: Zen Therapy returns
The newest Widex Compass Cloud fitting software reintroduces integrated Zen Therapy. Widex calls its tinnitus offer Widex Tinnitus Solutions. It combines Zen listening programs set up in Compass Cloud, support in the Widex Allure app and online counseling tools. Widex says more Zen features are planned. Sound therapy aims to make tinnitus less intrusive. It is not a cure. See our tinnitus hub and our page on hearing aids for tinnitus.
Who it may suit
People who want natural sound most of the day, and extra help only in hard rooms, may like the idea of an on-demand mode. People who want AI running all the time may prefer a different design. Neither is better in general. We would rather you try the aid in your own life. See our pages on Widex hearing aids, Widex Allure and Oticon Reveal against Widex Allure.
What Widex has not said
Widex has not announced a price. Its release does not name the competitor aids or give study sample sizes. It does not give battery life or Bluetooth details; those came from launch coverage in May. Widex tells clinics to contact their local sales manager for exact US dates, so we cannot give you a fitting date yet. We will update this page when we know more.
How California Hearing Center helps
We do not recommend one brand first. We run a hearing test, learn how you live, and then work out which hearing aid serves you best. If a Widex aid is on that list, we will say why. A hearing test visit with counseling takes about an hour. Hearing aids come with a 45-day trial and no restocking fee. Request a hearing test at our San Mateo or San Carlos office, or ask about a hearing aid second opinion visit. Read about our hearing aid fitting too.
More from this week's launches
Two other launches landed the same day: Phonak Roger On Sphere, an AI remote microphone, and the Advanced Bionics Integro cochlear implant processor. Our sister practice in New York looks at Clarity Boost as a choice between natural sound and AI all day: Widex Clarity Boost at Audiology Associates of Westchester.
