This comparison is more interesting than the marketing makes it look, because the two devices disagree about the premise. Oticon Reveal, launched August 2026, is built around two artificial-intelligence systems running at once. Widex Allure, the version you can buy in the United States today, has no deep neural network in its sound-processing path at all — and it still outperforms several AI flagships on the independent bench.
Widex has spent years arguing that the most important number in a hearing aid is not how clever the processing is but how fast it happens. Allure moves sound from microphone to receiver in under half a millisecond, which is why people often describe Widex devices as sounding unusually natural, particularly for music and for the sound of their own voice.
There is also one omission on the Widex side that we have to raise early, because for a large share of our patients it settles the question on its own. We fit both brands at our San Mateo and San Carlos offices.

The headline: Widex Allure has no tinnitus program
Widex built its reputation partly on Zen fractal tones, which were for years among the most respected tinnitus sound-therapy tools in the industry. They are not on Allure. The current Widex flagship has no tinnitus feature, and Zen remains available only on the older Moment and Moment Sheer platforms. Oticon Reveal includes Tinnitus SoundSupport across all four of its technology levels, with broadband and ocean-wave relief sounds we configure for you and that you can adjust in the app. If tinnitus is part of why you are here — and it is for a great many people who come to us — this is not a tie-breaker, it is the answer. We would not fit Allure to a patient whose tinnitus needs managing, and we would tell you that in the room.
What Widex does better than almost anyone: latency
Every hearing aid takes time to process sound, and that delay creates a slight mismatch between what reaches your ear through the device and what reaches it naturally around the earpiece. Most devices sit somewhere in the range of five to ten milliseconds. Widex's ZeroDelay path brings it below half a millisecond. In practice people report that their own voice sounds less boxy, that music holds together better, and that the whole experience feels less processed. That is a genuine engineering achievement and it is the reason to choose Widex. It is also why Allure performs well on the bench without any neural network — you cannot easily hear artefacts that are not there.
What the independent laboratory actually found
HearAdvisor scores the Widex Allure RIC 440 at 4.6 out of 5 on its initial fit and 4.2 tuned, with a grade of A, ranking it seventh of the thirty-six prescription hearing aids it has tested. Its speech-in-noise result is 2.9 initial and 2.5 tuned, against a category average of about 1.55. That is comfortably above average. It is worth sitting with what that means: a device with no deep neural network in the sound path measured better in background noise than at least one competitor built around a dedicated neural chip. The label on the box does not predict the result. Two cautions in the same data — the Allure's feedback handling drops sharply after tuning, to 1.7 out of 5, which is the weakest sub-score in the set and something we would watch for in an open fitting; and Oticon Reveal has no independent measurement at all, so none of these numbers can be compared to it.
Where Reveal is ahead: Auracast, and being newer
Both devices support Bluetooth LE Audio. Only Reveal has Auracast working today. Widex's own materials describe Auracast as arriving through a future software and app update during 2026 — the hardware is ready and the feature is not enabled. Both include a telecoil, so hearing loops work on either. Reveal is also, straightforwardly, the newer platform with the longer support runway ahead of it, and its Dual AI architecture is a real idea rather than a rebadge: a second system whose job is to preserve the ambient sound the first one would otherwise strip away. Whether that produces a better result for you is not yet answerable by anyone, since nobody has measured it.
Where Widex is ahead: you can get a behind-the-ear or a custom
Reveal launched in one style, a rechargeable receiver-in-canal. Widex Allure comes as a receiver-in-canal, a behind-the-ear, and a rechargeable custom in-the-ear — the last being Widex's first rechargeable custom device, added to the US line in December 2025. All three are rechargeable; there is no disposable-battery option and no CIC or ITC style. If a behind-the-ear device is what suits your ears, your dexterity or your earmold, Allure can do it today and Reveal cannot.
A version of Allure with a neural network is coming, but not yet
Widex announced Allure AI in May 2026, adding a dedicated co-processor running a recurrent neural network for a feature called Clarity Boost. Its design is deliberately different from Reveal's: where Oticon runs both AI systems continuously, Widex's neural processing is switched on by the wearer, by button or app, rather than running all the time — which preserves the low-latency character the rest of the time. It launches in the United States on 1 November 2026. It is not something you can buy here today, it has not been independently tested, and Widex has not published a US price for it. If Widex's sound signature appeals to you and you are not in a hurry, it may be worth waiting for. We will update this page when it arrives.
The rest of the spec sheet
Both carry an IP68 rating. Allure runs about 25 hours per charge in the receiver-in-canal style and 23 in the custom; Oticon quotes a full day for Reveal. Neither offers health or wellness sensors. Widex fits through a cloud-based system called Compass Cloud, which at the time of writing does not support remote programming — so adjustments need a visit, where Reveal supports remote fine-tuning through the Oticon Companion app between appointments. Widex also offers a notably small accessory range, with no remote microphone, which matters if you were counting on one for meetings or lectures.
How we would decide with you
If you have tinnitus, Reveal. If music, your own voice, or a generally unprocessed quality of sound is what you most want back, Widex, and it is not close — that low-latency signature is real and people who value it tend to value it a lot. If you need a behind-the-ear or a custom device, Widex today. If you want Auracast working now, Reveal. And if none of those decides it, we would rather demonstrate both than argue from a page. Real-ear verification matters more to your result than this choice does; the Allure's own test data shows how much a fitting changes performance, in both directions.

Does Widex Allure have a tinnitus program?

It matters most for music and for the sound of your own voice, both of which people commonly describe as more natural through Widex devices. It is the clearest reason to choose the brand.
Does Widex Allure support Auracast?
Not yet. Allure supports Bluetooth LE Audio and the hardware is Auracast-capable, but Widex describes the feature as arriving in a future software update during 2026. Oticon Reveal has Auracast working today. Both include a telecoil, so hearing loops work on either.
Should I wait for the Widex Allure AI?
