Phonak has not published a price for EON at any technology level, and we are not going to invent one. Any figure you find online this month is either a guess, a price for a different platform, or an advertisement.
What we can do is more useful than a number would be. We can explain what actually determines what you pay for a hearing aid in the Bay Area, why EON's launch changes that calculation in one specific and unusually concrete way, and exactly what is inside our fee so that when you do get a quote — from us or from anywhere else — you can tell whether you are comparing like with like.
The short version of the last point: two quotes for the same Phonak EON can differ by thousands of dollars, and the difference is rarely the hearing aid. It is the technology level, and it is what happens after you walk out with them.

Why we will not print a number yet
EON went on sale in the United States on the day it was announced, August 24, 2026. Phonak has not published a manufacturer price at any level, and dispenser pricing at a launch is genuinely unsettled — it moves as stock arrives and as the previous platform clears. We could put a plausible-looking range on this page and it would help this page rank. It would also mean that some of you would walk in expecting a figure we cannot honour, which is a bad way to start a relationship that is supposed to last five years. So: no dollar figures here. The technology level is the biggest variable, and EON just changed it
Phonak sells every platform at several technology levels, and the level — not the platform — is what moves the price most. Historically the calculation was uncomfortable: Spheric Speech Clarity, the neural network that does the heavy lifting in noise, only existed on the top two levels. If you could not stretch to those, you did not get it at all. On EON, Phonak has extended Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0 down to the Standard 50 level, alongside Advanced 70 and Premium 90, and WindBlock 2.0 is available across the range. That is the single most consequential thing in this launch for the people we actually see. It means the question is no longer whether you can afford the technology, but how much automatic adaptation and how many program refinements you want on top of it. It also means that if you were quoted for a premium Phonak in the past year and declined, the answer may well be different now, and it is worth asking us to re-run it.
What else moves the number
Beyond the technology level: whether you need one hearing aid or two, which is decided by your audiogram rather than by budget; the receiver power and whether a custom earmould is needed; accessories, particularly a Roger microphone, which is a separate purchase and for some people the most valuable thing in the whole package; and the professional services bundled into the price. That last item is the one people do not think to ask about and the one that varies most. A quote that looks a thousand dollars cheaper may simply have unbundled the follow-up appointments, the verification, or both — and you will pay for them later, either in money or in a hearing aid that never gets adjusted properly.
What is inside our fee
Our price includes the full evaluation, the fitting itself, and real-ear measurement to confirm that the hearing aids deliver what your prescription calls for rather than what the manufacturer's software assumed. It includes the follow-up visits over the first months while your brain adapts and while we fine-tune, in-house cleaning and servicing, and the manufacturer warranty administered by us so you are not shipping anything anywhere yourself. It includes a trial period, because nobody should be committed to a hearing aid they have not lived with. When you compare quotes, compare these line by line. If another practice is cheaper and includes all of it, that is a genuinely better deal and we will tell you so.
What being first actually costs
There is a premium attached to buying a platform in its first month, and it is not only financial. EON has no independent laboratory measurement — HearAdvisor has published nothing on it, and neither has anyone else. There is no published IP rating in the launch material. No custom, power or pediatric style exists yet. Nobody has fitted enough of them to know where the quirks are. Meanwhile the platform it replaces, Phonak Infinio, has an A grade and a SoundScore of 4.9 out of 5 from HearAdvisor, covers styles EON does not, and gets cheaper as dispensers clear stock. If your budget is the binding constraint, a verified Infinio Ultra fitting is very likely a better use of the same money than a first-month EON, and we would say so in the room.
What the research says about spending more
This is the part most practices leave off a cost page. Wu and colleagues, publishing in JAMA Otolaryngology in 2025, randomised 245 adults between hearing aids costing roughly $4,400 and roughly $1,100 and found no significant difference in outcomes. Humes and colleagues, in the American Journal of Audiology in 2017, found that price had no measurable effect once the fitting was done properly. Neither study says premium technology is worthless — it says that above a certain point, what you spend matters less to your result than how carefully the device is fitted and verified. Which is exactly what HearAdvisor found on Phonak's own hardware: the Infinio Ultra measured 3.1 out of 5 for speech in noise at the manufacturer's initial-fit settings and 5.0 after tuning, on the same bench on the same day. We would rather you spent less on the device and insisted on the verification.
Insurance, HSA and financing
Some California plans contribute toward hearing aids and many do not; some employer plans carry a hearing benefit people never claim. We check yours before quoting and we do not make you chase it yourself — our insurance page explains how we handle it. HSA and FSA funds can generally be used for hearing aids, and hearing aids are frequently deductible as a medical expense, which our tax guide covers in more detail. We also offer financing, including interest-free options for qualifying applicants, so that the technology level is chosen on clinical grounds rather than on what fits in one month's budget.

Is Phonak EON more expensive than Phonak Infinio?
Almost certainly at the equivalent technology level, since the outgoing platform gets discounted as stock clears. But the comparison people should be making is not platform against platform — it is a first-month EON with no independent measurement against a verified Infinio Ultra that HearAdvisor graded A at 4.9 out of 5 and that comes in styles EON does not offer. On a fixed budget, we would often recommend the second.
Does the cheaper EON technology level still have the AI?
Yes, and this is new. Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0 runs at Premium 90, Advanced 70 and Standard 50 on EON, where on the previous platform the neural network was confined to the top two levels. WindBlock 2.0 is available across the range as well. What you give up at lower levels is the number of automatic programs and the fineness of the adjustments, not the core speech-in-noise processing.
Does insurance cover Phonak EON?

Can I use HSA or FSA funds for hearing aids?

Is the top technology level worth paying for?
Sometimes, and less often than you would guess from the price list. It is worth it if you spend a lot of time in genuinely difficult listening — restaurants, meetings, large family gatherings — and want the device making those adjustments automatically. If your days are mostly quiet, the extra money buys capability you will not use. Since EON puts the neural network at the Standard 50 level, that decision is more comfortable than it used to be. We would rather you spent the difference on making sure the fitting is verified.
